These days, when close to fulfilling the ninety-ninth birthday of this ship, has Correillo LA PALMA made headlines for a welcome event. A Foundation Correillo La Palma has been given the award "canary CICOP Conservation and Restoration of Industrial Heritage," international award that recognizes the outstanding work of rescue and rehabilitation of this small but emblematic ship, which contributed to the union of Canary archipelago and its commercial and cultural exchange for over six decades of the last century.

The Correillo LA PALMA champion and his foundation are a clear example of safeguarding of World Heritage and brave struggle for its maintenance, worthy of distinction. The Foundation Correillo La Palma, for several years, has concentrated its efforts in restoring this little gem from the Merchant Marine in 1912, not only to avoid increasing the scrap heap in which continuously convert ships with its own history, but to get this old cargo ship mixed-passage can be useful again, constituting this society yearning to return again to navigate, and also with passengers. If this intention may finally materialize, the LA PALMA Correillo have the honor of being the passenger ship in the world's oldest service, this valuable title and packaging worthily define a cacique Western society ... Where were achieved.
Unfortunately the economic crisis overwhelms us all, also affected the work of the said Foundation, paralyzing most of the projects so strongly wish to pursue, among them, and besides its rationale, the restoration of Correillo, is the utilization of a representative building of the port of Tenerife, as is popularly known as "Jet Foil Old Station" to establish a maritime museum. The highest institution of the island, the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, has agreed at all times, which can complement the island's network of museums, and the star of the Maritime Museum would be arguably the Correillo, a real gem, living relic global marine engineering. However, until a few years, and with the approval of new government teams emerged from the polls, will not be materialized as didactic purpose.
Maritime Station was designed by Jet Foil N-3 group composed of architects Tenerife Antonio Corona Bosch, Arsenio Martínez Pérez and Eustace. It is an area of \u200b\u200b2,200 square meters, of which 1,500 are built, and the rest is a large terrace. On concrete base is erected a metal structure under which the space is divided into units that mark an interior street, on one level. Work began the summer of 1988 coming into operation on April 15, 1991, and its official opening on April 29 that year.
For several years he was the point of embarkation and disembarkation of Foils Jet in 80 minutes linking the islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
